Carthage loses a heartbreaker in state championship game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Carthage Comets came so close in Friday night’s Class A state championship game, played at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

But it wasn’t quite close enough. A last minute, 52 yard field goal attempt that would have tied the game was blocked.

The Comets lost to defending champion Cornwall, 30-27, after being up 21-16 at the half.

This was only the second loss for the Comets this year.
