COPENHAGEN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Saturday people were tossing a buck into a boot for Copenhagen’s boot drive for children.
Firefighters stood in the road Saturday with boots for drivers to put donations in.
They say small donations can really add up.
The fire department does boot drives four times a year for different causes.
But they say Saturday’s cause was extra special.
“What we raise today is going to go for Toys for Children, which is Christmas sharing for Lewis County. Last year, we donated approximately $500 and it went to help 700 families,” said Terry Williams, Copenhagen Fire Department’s vice president.
In just four hours, the fire department exceeded last year’s donation and raised $850.
