BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - Fire Sunday morning extensively damaged a Boonville home.

According to a report from Lewis County Dispatch, the blaze at 1813 State Route 26 began as a fire in a wall. When volunteers from Constableville arrived, they found what they described as “heavy smoke.”

They got help fighting the fire from the West Leyden and Turin fire departments, but “wind and cold weather made this a difficult fire to fight,” the report notes.

The house and contents sustained significant damage.

The home is owned by Keith Pfendler and was occupied.

The fire was reported just before 9:30 AM.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
