WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - There was Federal Hockey League action from the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds ice arena Saturday night as the Watertown Wolves played host to the Delaware Thunder for a 2nd straight night.
The Wolves looking for a weekend sweep after beating the Thunder Friday night 5-2, and in search of their 3rd straight win, looking to keep a lock on the top spot in the Eastern Division.
In the 2nd period, the Wolves were on top 1-0 when Jamie Lukas dented the back of the net, increasing the Watertown lead to 2-0. Less than a minute later, Dallas DeJarlais splits the pipes to up Watertown’s lead to 3-0. A little over a minute later Tyler Gjurich scored on the doorstep to put Watertown on top 4-0.
A congratulations is in order to Beaver River cross country runner Colton Kempney, who finished in 4th place Saturday in the New York Championships at the 2019 NXN New York and Northeast Regional.
Kempney posted a time of 16 minutes 6 and 1 tenth seconds. He was 19 seconds behind winner Peyton Geehrer of Manlius. Kempney also qualified for the Nike National Cross Country race in Portland, Oregon next Saturday.
Kempney’s Beaver River teammate, Cory Demo finished 21st with a time of 16 minutes 42.8 seconds. As a team, Beaver River had a top 10 finish.
