(WWNY) - The man who told you in his television ads his prices beat the prices at the fancy stores has unexpectedly passed away.
Mark Butler was chief executive officer and president of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and he did his own commercials.
Various media reports say he died Sunday while spending Thanksgiving with his family.
He was 61 years old.
Syracuse.com says he was the youngest member of Ollie’s 4 founders and the last surviving member.
Butler became CEO in 2003.
Ollie's started in Pennsylvania in 1982.
In the day and age when retailers see more business online, Butler told CNBC in April that brick and mortar isn't dead and Ollie's would expand to 950 stores in the long term. There are currently 325 stores with more than a billion dollars in annual sales.
There's an Ollie's in Watertown.
