OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (WWNY) - Ogdensburg Deputy Mayor Dan Skamperle was injured in a hunting-related accident over the weekend.
City officials say Skamperle fell when a tree stand collapsed from beneath him.
He's undergoing treatment at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for several broken bones.
Officials say there was also internal bleeding, which was brought under control.
He’s scheduled for surgery on Wednesday and officials say doctors tell them they’re optimistic, but it will be a long recovery.
