WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - A group of philanthropic high school students has thousands of dollars to give away for worthy nonprofit projects.

Katherine DeLaGarza chairs the Youth Philanthropy Council and Madison Derouin is vice chair.

Youth Philanthropy Council is a committee of the Northern New York Community Foundation and is made of up students from Watertown, South Jefferson, Sackets Harbor, and Immaculate Heart schools.

Thanks to a $20,000 grant, the council is accepting proposals from nonprofit groups in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.

Grant proposals are due by December 13.
