All eyes on defending champs Lyme as basketball season gets underway

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Frontier League basketball season opens Tuesday night.

Among the games, defending Frontier League and Section 3 champion Lyme entertains Sackets Harbor in both boys' and girls' basketball. The event is part of an American Cancer Society fundraiser.

All eyes will be on a Lyme boys' team that is in the process of incorporating a couple of transfers into the program.

Coach Leo Wilson says this year's squad will be a work in progress.

"Because they are anxious to get going, see what we are going to be able to do and what we're not going to be able to do," the coach said. "I'm sure we're going to have a lot of things we're going to have to still work on, practice season was a lot shorter this season so as we get going through the start of the season, we'll have to work on some things."

Wilson said "Sackets Harbor is always going to be tough. Jeff always gets them ready for the season. I figure they're going to come in and they're going to be tough. They will shoot well and they are fundamentally sound, so it should be a good game."
