LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - State police have released the identities of the two people who died in a fire in Lowville over the weekend.

The victims were 58 year old Catherine Crego and 42 year old Saratina Kilbourne.

An autopsy performed at Albany Medical Center found that both victims died from asphyxia from smoke and "heated products of combustion."

Another person was injured in the fire. Troopers say 60 year old Brian Mushtare has been released from Lewis County General Hospital after he was treated for smoke inhalation, cuts, and minor burns.

Crego and Mushtare lived in separate units of the 7525 South State Street apartment house. Kilbourne lived nearby at 7539 South State Street.

Firefighters found the bodies of Crego and Kilbourne on the second floor.

Investigators say that anyone with information about the fire or who might have video of it can contact Officer Matthew Martin of the Lowville Police Department at 315-376-6511.

No cause has been reported.
