Lady Spartans plan tough defense of sectional title

South Jefferson girls' hoops

ADAMS, N.Y. (WWNY) - Loaded with an influx of young faces, the South Jefferson girls’ basketball team is ready to make another run to the postseason.

The Lady Spartans are off to a winning start as they look to defend their Section 3 Class B championship.

The team is different, but the winning is expected to be the same.

"Definitely the chemistry this year is so different," coach Michelle Whitley said. "They want to run, they want to get after it, they want to work together, they know their role, they're okay with their role and, yeah, the youngsters are pushing the older kids and making them have to be better, which makes us better as a team."

There's more from the coach in the video, along with perspectives from players Abby Piddock, Megan Whitley, Jackie Piddock, and Taylor Scoville

As always, the non-league schedule is tough once again, which pays off for South Jefferson come postseason time.

South Jefferson moves up to the A Division of the Frontier League this season.
