Lyle Robbins, 88, of Lowville

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - Lyle Robbins, 88, of East Martinsburg Road, died Wednesday evening, December 11, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
In keeping with Lyle’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service with Military Honors will be in the spring at the Martinsburg Cemetery.

He is survived by four children, Donald (Sandy) Robbins of Glenfield; Daryl (Cheryl) Robbins of Lowville; Diane Hirschey and her companion Edward Irvin of Boonville; Dawn Marmon of Lowville; a sister, Madeline Mackey of Lowville; a brother and sister–in-law, Carl and Shirley Robbins of Williamstown; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Norma M. Robbins; four sisters, Beatrice Crump, Audrey Ingersoll, Arlene Pastella, and Beverly Minasian; two brothers, Keith and Clyde Robbins; a grandson, Kyle Edward Irvin.
Mr. Robbins was born on January 22, 1931 in Mannsville, NY, a son of the late William “Donald” and Florence Gardner Robbins and attended country schools locally. On February 1, 1953, he married Norma M. Hoch in Williamstown, NY.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his return home, he worked for the Casket Factory in Lowville and Kraft, before going to work for Payne Jones for over 35 years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Robbins passed away on October 3, 2006.
Lyle enjoyed hunting and fishing, building and inventing, collecting and working on boat motors.
