PARISHVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - State police have released the identity of the victim of a fatal car crash and fire in Parishville late last week.
Troopers say an autopsy performed Monday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital identified the victim as 19 year old William Chase of Parishville.
The crash happened Friday night on the Old Potsdam-Parishville Road.
Troopers say the car veered off the road shortly after 10 p.m., crashed into a tree, and burst into flames.
Police say Chase was trapped inside the vehicle.
The autopsy showed he died of a cervical vertebrae fracture and smoke inhalation.
The Parishville Fire Department put the fire out and St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
