WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The winner of the annual Watertown Chamber of Commerce Israel Shapiro Citizenship Award is Allison Gorham.
Gorham is active in the community, serving as board member for the Watertown Urban Mission, volunteering for Jefferson County Hospice, working on the city's comprehensive plan and beautifying the city with her passion for gardening.
“Completely overwhelmed, grateful and nervous and just full of gratitude really, it’s an amazing honor,” said Gorham.
“She didn’t see it coming, it really came out of left field for her, so it was really a great experience to share such wonderful news that so many people think so highly of her contributions that she is deserving of this,” said Watertown Chamber of Commerce President Kylie Peck.
The Shapiro Award has been given to a special community member since 1952. There will be an award reception dinner February 6.
