CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Canton Dairy Queen could be coming down.
The Dairy Queen’s owners have filed a demolition notice with the state.
The building burned in August 2018 after an employee, Cody Horrocks, robbed and set it on fire.
Horrocks was sentenced to 5 to 15 years for the arson on top of other charges. In addition, he was ordered to pay $466,965 in restitution for burning down the Dairy Queen.
The village of Canton has secured a $195,000 Community Development Block Grant to help with its rebuilding. The owners have until June 28, 2021 to use that grant.
