WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The holiday high school hoop season continued on Saturday with a number of games on the docket.
We begin with boys and girls contests at Jefferson Community College.
In the first game, General Brown took on Watertown. Kacy Lennox was just inside the arc for the Lions. Then, General Brown had a fast break as Tyler Fiske got ahead of the pack for the layup. Jaren Peckham nails the corner trey as the Lions pour it on early. Fiske takes the steal and takes the ball coast to coast for 2. Fiske also shows he can do it from the land of threes. Cory Smith comes up with the running one hander for 2. It was Fiske once again with the finish for the Lions. DeShaun Thorigal Brown lays it up and in.
Ryan Peters stops the bleeding for Watertown, but the Lions lead 29 to 7. General Brown goes on to win 54 to 41.
On the girls’ side, it was Thousand Islands against Harrisville. Haylee Alteri has the rebound and the bucket for the Vikings. Harrisville answers, Chloe Benson kisses one off the glass for 2. It was Kennady Amo from beyond the arc, all net. Delaney Wiley moves into the paint for the basket. It was Wiley again, this time with the rebound and the basket. Then it was Lauren Rupp for 2, as Thousand Islands defeats Harrisville 56-34.
In the Burkman Classic Championship, the Canton boys played Newark. It was Josh Kennedy to Chris Downs, opening the scoring for Canton. Then, Isaiah Camp to Raeshawn Howard with the reverse layup, tying the game at 3-3.Next was Downs to Kennedy for a reverse layin, Canton back up by 2. Camp came up with a putback. Reds on a run, lead 11-6. Then Ashton Cloce passed to Downs for a bucket to put Canton within three. Adam Lombardi passed to Devin Agosto with a hard dribble and up for two. This game went into overtime. Newark outlasted Canton 59-56.
The consolation game saw Madrid-Waddington vs. Harrisville. Brennan Harmer passed to Trent Lashua with a layup. Score: Madrid-Waddington 4-0. Then it was Jadon Sullivan to Adam Szlamczyski for two, Harrisville trails by 2. Next was Cody Scheinberg to Lashua for the trifecta. Then we saw Nathan Schmitt to Sullivan with a short jumper. There was a steal by Harmer for an uncontested layup. Madrid-Waddington 11-4. Schmitt steals to Szlamczyski for a quick bucket. Then it was Lashua to Harmer for two. Madrid-Waddington holds on to beat Harrisville 71-67.
