WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - A local manufacturing company is expanding with the help of state money. EZ STAK's new facility is set to bring more jobs to the north country.

EZ STAK, a company that manufactures storage space for work vehicles, is moving out of its building in the town of Watertown into a bigger facility in the town of Hounsfield.

“It’s going to help us with growing our production and our assembly here. It’s a good opportunity for our company. We have had a great experience working in the north country,” said Matt Coltart, plant manager.

Coltart says the company’s $1.2 million state economic development award will be used to hire 15 workers over the next five years.

"In the course of five years we could be ramping up production and need more than that," he said.

"With the growth of any company like EZ STAK, any of our other companies growing here in the area represents opportunity for those people who maybe loosing jobs elsewhere or looking for to go up to better paying jobs as well," said David Zembiec, deputy CEO, Jefferson County Economic Development.

EZ STAK is spending $5 million of its own for renovations, which will help the plant mirror its Canadian location.

"It really demonstrates a long term commitment to staying here in the north country and Jefferson County and we are glad to have them here," said Zembiec.

Coltart says EZ STAK plans to hire soon and that when positions open, they will be posted on the company website.
