WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Could the north country attract artificial intelligence? One economic official says there’s the potential.
Don Alexander, CEO of the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency, says his group met with a New York City based developer this week. Alexander says artificial intelligence requires low cost energy and a lot of fiber optic cable. He says the county is partially there.
"It looks quite possible that artificial intelligence is something that could be attracted to our community and that is the highest tech in the world so if we could be on the cutting edge of bringing that type of technology to our community, there's no telling where that might lead so we're extremely hopeful," he said.
Alexander says there’s a lot of work that would need to happen behind the scenes to get it done.
