2 St. Lawrence County men arrested in armed robbery case

CANASTOTA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Two St. Lawrence County men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Madison County.

The Canastota Police Department arrested 36 year old Steven St. Andrews of Massena and 36 year-old James Lago of Ogdensburg on Wednesday.

Police said the men were part of an armed robbery that happened in the parking lot of McDonald’s in the village Canastota on January 4.

According to police, St. Andrews was arrested at a home in Ogdensburg, while Lago was arrested after being pulled over on Route 37 in Theresa.

Both men are charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree grand larceny.

St. Andrews is also charged with criminal use of a firearm and menacing.

Lago was additionally charged with conspiracy.

Police said the two men were on parole. Both are being held without bail.

Canastota police said they were able to arrest St. Andrews and Lago on Wednesday with the assistance of the Ogdensburg Police Department, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
