WEST PARISHVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - Bruce W. Brewer, 71, a longtime resident of West Parishville Road, unexpectedly passed away early Monday morning, January 6, 2020 in Waddington.
Bruce was born February 28, 1948 in Potsdam, the son of the late William and Marion (Gilmore) Brewer. He attended schools in Potsdam. On May 9, 1967, he entered the US Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on December 2, 1969. On June 17, 1996, he married Sheila E. Moore at the Hannawa Falls Methodist Church. She predeceased him on September 4, 2016.
Bruce was a truck driver for most of his life, driving for various companies throughout the country. He later drove for Graymont, where he retired after many years of service. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATVing, and camping. He was a member of the Parishville AMVETS Post #265, Teamsters Union, and an over 30-year member of the Hannawa Falls Fire Department.
Bruce is survived by his children, Jeff Brewer of Hannawa Falls, Brian Brewer, address unknown, Amber Brewer of West Parishville, and Angela Brewer of Stockholm; his stepson, Eric and Jennifer Moore of Potsdam; several grandchildren including, Nick, Brooke, and Ashley; and his companion, Linda Dixson of Waddington. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ellen Moore of Canton; his brother-in-laws, Jerry and Jane Moore of Potsdam and Randy and Shelly Moore of Colton.
A celebration of life will be held at the Parishville AMVETS on Saturday, January 18, 2020 starting at 12:00 NOON with military honors being presented at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held privately.
