TOWN OF MARTINSBURG, N.Y. (WWNY) - Two people are homeless and two pets are dead following a fire in Lewis County Tuesday morning.

Volunteers were called to 6703 B Arthur Road in the town of Martinsburg at 9:38 a.m.

Officials said the trailer home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.

The fire was reported by a passerby.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but it's believed to be electrical in origin.

The Red Cross is helping the family.
