Tuesday afternoon weather: clouds, quiet

wwny noon weather

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Tuesday afternoon looks to be quiet, when it comes to north country weather.

The National Weather Service forecasts a cloudy afternoon, all around northern New York.

The biggest point of difference - temperatures. It will get up to 40 in Jefferson and Lewis counties, but only 26 in upper St. Lawrence County.

Tonight, a chance of rain before 4 AM in Jefferson County, then rain and snow, though not a lot of either. A low above freezing, of 34.

In Lewis County, the timing’s a little different: rain and snow before 9 PM, then rain until 1, then back to rain and snow after 1 AM. Again, not a lot. A low of 32.

Upper St. Lawrence County will get down to 23, with snow before midnight followed by snow and freezing drizzle. But not to worry - little ice accumulation is expected, and less than half an inch of snow.

Looking ahead, it gets cold Thursday night, zero or a little colder, and there is a chance of significant snow this weekend.
