GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WWNY) - North country congresswoman Elise Stefanik has been selected as honorary chair for President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign in New York state.
That was announced by the Trump campaign Wednesday morning.
“I’m honored to have been chosen as a New York State Chair for the Trump campaign in 2020,” Stefanik said in a release. “President Trump’s agenda of creating jobs, strengthening our military, securing our borders, negotiating better trade deals, and lowering crime rates has historic support in the 21st Congressional District and across Upstate New York. I’m looking forward to working with his campaign to deliver another decisive victory in my district. President Trump’s record of results will win handily over far-Left radical resistance in November.”
Stefanik represents New York's 21st congressional district, which voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2016.
During impeachment hearings in the House of Representatives in November, Stefanik became one of Trumps staunchest and most vocal defenders.
She serves on the House Intelligence Committee, which handled the bulk of Democrats' investigations.
Stefanik’s high profile in the proceedings led to surges in donations for both her campaign and the campaign of Democrat Tedra Cobb, her opponent in this year’s election.
