MASSENA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Cecile Roy, 91, of 114 North Main Street, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Massena Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.

Cecile was born on December 27, 1928 in St. Philomene, Quebec, daughter of the late Ernest and Elmire Raby Boissonneault. On June 18, 1949 she married Joseph Arthur Roy in Welland, Ontario. Arthur predeceased her on December 5, 2010.

Cecile and Arthur lived in Niagara Falls, NY for 52 years, where she worked in food services at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. For several years after retirement, Cecile and Arthur travelled to Las Vegas, her favorite vacation spot. Cecile was an avid BINGO and card player. Her favorite past-time included a Euchre tournament with family while enjoying a couple “blessings.”

Cecile is survived by her two sons, Donald Roy of Barrie, ON; and Marc and wife Elizabeth Roy of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Lillian and husband Merrick Bunstone, Hanna and husband Isaiah Nezezon, Cecile Roy, Brandon Roy and Jillian Roy; four great grandchildren, Katie and Marcie Bunstone, Montana and Rory Nezezon.

Besides her parents Ernest and Elmire, she was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

A memorial gathering will be held at the home of Marc and Elizabeth for friends and family. A mass will be held at St. Mary’s church, Massena in her memory and a graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Canton.

Memorial donations may be made in Cecile’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
