ANTWERP, N.Y. (WWNY) - There's an issue with the village of Antwerp's water system.

Mayor Jonathan Cole says there’s a shortage of water and residents are being asked not to use water unless it’s absolutely necessary.

And any water they consume should be boiled first.

Cole said firefighters used a lot of water Thursday night battling a blaze at a home on Route 11 and there now appears to be a supply problem.

He said health officials are on the scene and crews are still trying to track down the problem.

The water issue also closed Indian River Central’s Antwerp Primary School.
