WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWNY) - When it comes to COVID-19, north country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has two major concerns: testing and the outbreak’s effect on the economy.

7 News spoke with her on the phone Thursday afternoon.

"This is going to have a long term economic impact. We ought to prioritize our resources for testing. That's one of my top concerns is making sure New York state and across the country has access to timely tests because information is the most important tool we have to combat the continued spread of this pandemic. I supported the President's statement last night in terms of low interest loans from the Small Business Administration. Additionally, we need to make sure that there is potential coverage for individuals who are quarantined and not able to work in person," said Stefanik (R. - 21st District).

Stefanik said she hopes the approach to a coronavirus bill will be bipartisan in nature.
