Mel’s History Lesson: a Stanley Cup connection & Rowdy Roddy Piper

Mel's Sports History: a Stanley Cup connection & Rowdy Roddy Piper

HERRINGS, N.Y. (WWNY) - Did you realize that a former Herrings resident who worked at the old Deferiet paper mill has his name on the Stanley Cup, not once but twice?

In the first of two history lessons, Mel fills us in on the north country connection to the Stanley Cup.

He takes us back to 2000.

In the second history lesson, Mel talks about a 2013 visit to Watertown by wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, who was promoting a 2CW event at the fairgrounds.

Piper died of cardiac arrest two years later at the age of 61.
