CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - St. Lawrence County’s burn ban has been extended to July 7.

That’s according to county legislature chairman Joe Lightfoot.

The burn ban was first imposed Saturday, as the county struggles through unusually dry conditions. It was due to expire at the end of the day Thursday.

Under a burn ban, outdoor and open burning of brush is prohibited, as are unattended camp fires.
