CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - A historic landmark in Canton has come down.

The long-awaited Canton Village Park Fountain restoration has begun.

The stone basin is being taken apart and could be restored as soon as fall.

The iron fountain itself will be shipped to Alabama for restoration.

The Canton Park and Fountain Campaign has raised $145,000 so far for the work, but the fundraising continues.
