WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Jefferson County’s sales tax numbers for the quarter are in and county officials are cautiously optimistic.

Through three quarters, 2020 is down nearly $66,000 compared to this time last year.

July was down 15 percent from 2019, August down 14 percent.

But, September revenue was up 30 percent compared to last year.

County officials say the uptick is due to New York trying to level out sales tax distribution statewide.
