NORFOLK, N.Y. (WWNY) - A Norfolk man is charged in connection with two domestic incidents at the same residence on the same day.
State police say they were called to a Morris Street home in Norfolk around 5:20 p.m. Sunday. Their investigation revealed that 40-year-old Jonathan Emlaw allegedly hit a woman with a belt, punched her several times, and choked her.
They say the victim suffered several bruises.
Emlaw was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault.
He was released following his arraignment in Norfolk town court, where an order of protection was issued.
Troopers say they were called back to the home at around 11 p.m. and found that Emlaw had returned, allegedly punched and slapped the victim, and broke her eyeglasses.
Emlaw was arrested again and charged with first-degree criminal contempt for violating the order of protection, third-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree harassment.
He was arraigned by Clifton town court, where a stay-away order of protection was issued.
Emlaw was taken to St. Lawrence County jail based on prior felony convictions.
