WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - New York Assemblyman Will Barclay has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Assembly minority leader announced the diagnosis on Twitter Monday evening.
Barclay represents the 120th Assembly District, which includes parts of Oswego, Onondaga, and Jefferson counties.
In the tweet, Barclay said "as a precautionary measure, I took a COVID-19 test today and regrettably, I have tested positive for the virus.
“Since the start of the outbreak, I have taken social-distancing guidelines very seriously and I encourage others to continue to do so,” he said. “I’m optimistic for a quick turnaround.”
Barclay has served in the Assembly since 2003. He was elected to the minority leader post in January.
