State police use backhoe during investigation in town of Edwards

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - State police were seen digging up soil on a property in the St. Lawrence County town of Edwards Tuesday.

Troopers would only confirm that they were “following up on a tip on an older case.”

State police and a backhoe were seen on the old Noble Farm property off County Route 24, also known as Edwards-Russell Road.

Edwards Town Supervisor Jan Lennox told 7 News state police used the town’s backhoe for the investigation.

7 News specifically asked troopers what they were searching for, but declined to comment.

St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua said Tuesday, he knew nothing about the investigation.
