WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Owners of the Watertown Wolves want ice at the city’s arena down a little longer.
They’re requesting the city extend the ice season until mid-May. That would allow for more games in a COVID-shortened season.
But that plan would interfere with other events.
Mayor Jeff Smith says the city is willing to try to meet the Wolves' request.
“Staff is going to look into working with other agencies and the scheduling to see if that can be corrected,” he said. “And, if it can, great.”
The city denied a request from Wolves owners to reduce a practice fee.
Smith says the Wolves ownership will try to make the season work as long as they can have at least 50 percent capacity.
