WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown’s annual tree lighting ceremony couldn’t publicly happen this year because of COVID-19.

Instead, the city and 7 News teamed up to bring the tree lighting to you in an unannounced ceremony Wednesday.

Watch Mel Busler’s report from Wednesday’s 6 p.m. news.

The balsam fir is from the the Simmons farm in Copenhagen.

The Downtown Business Association paid for the tree.

The annual Christmas parade will also be socially distanced.

It’s called “Deck the Parkway.” Floats will be lined up along the Black River Parkway between Coffeen and Mill streets.

People can drive through the parade from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 4.
