WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Two staff members at Samaritan Summit Village Assisted Living Facility in Watertown tested positive for COVID-19, Samaritan said Friday in a letter to families.
As a result, indoor visitation at the assisted living facility is suspended until it goes 14 days without either a staff member of resident testing positive.
The good news? One staff member had not been in the facility in the last seven days, posing no risk to residents, according to the letter.
The other staffer who tested positive “had resident interaction but the person poses a low exposure risk,” according to the letter.
This marks the first time assisted living employees have tested positive. No residents have tested positive.
All residents were to be tested Friday “as a precautionary measure.”
“If there is a single positive result, we will communicate this to families right away and put our plan into action to protect all other residents and staff.,” according to the letter.
Both of the staffers who tested positive have been quarantined and must get a negative test result before they can return to work.
