Police seek driver in hit and run crash that left Ogdensburg man critically injured

CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - An Ogdensburg man is in critical condition after being struck by a car that fled the scene.

It happened before 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day in the village of Canton in the Stewart’s Shops parking lot on Gouverneur Street.

Police Chief James Santimaw said 62 year old James Testani was struck by a car in the parking lot and ended up in the street.

Testani was in critical condition Monday afternoon at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Santimaw said the car, described only as being dark in color, fled the village.

The chief also said police are working on leads and speaking with witnesses to locate the driver of the car.
