WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - North country organizations are continuing to do their part to help put food on people’s tables.
Cars were lined up as early as 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Community College to receive boxes full of food, milk and items like gift cards.
This food distribution was different from previously held events because it was more of a grassroots effort with all of the items being donated by north country dairy farmers and other organizations - something they could do to give back.
“For farmers in the north country to get out and support their community, I think that we are very fortunate to have community support when we need things to have happen and so this is just a good way for us to give to the people of our community,” said Todd Hyman, owner, Hylight Farms.
In all, 500 food boxes were given out to help north country families.
