CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Skating Saints of St. Lawrence were looking to remain unbeaten on the season Saturday night at Appleton Arena where they hosted the Colgate Red Raiders.
There was only 1 goal in the first period as Elliott McDermott beat Emil Zetterquist 5 hole. Red Raiders in front 1-0 after 1 period.
The Saints tie it up in the 2nd on the great effort by Kaden Pickering, knotting the score at 1.
A little over a minute later, Nicholas Trela puts the Saints on top 2-1.
Under 3 minutes later, Colgate ties it up when Matt Verboon scores on the power play. Score: 2 all.
Colgate would take a 3-2 lead and seal it on an empty netter by Ross Mitton. Final score: 4-2 Colgate.
Saints fall to 2-1-1 overall. They play next against Colgate Sunday at 5 PM.
In Hamden, Connecticut, the Clarkson Golden Knights were looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 5 as they met Quinnipiac.
3:43 in, the Golden Knights jump out to the early lead when Grant Cooper dents the back of the net. Score: 1-0 Clarkson. Still in the 1st, it was Anthony Callin tickling twine, putting Clarkson on top 2-0 after 1.
This game goes to overtime tied at 3 where Desi Burgart unloads a rocket that’s too hot to handle. Final score: 4-3 Quinnipiac.
Clarkson drops to 7-4-1 on the season and will play Quinnipiac again Sunday at 4 PM.
