TOWN OF LAWRENCE, N.Y. (WWNY) - A man, who fell nearly 160 feet off a cell tower, was conscious after hitting the ground. That’s according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday on Ferris Road in the town of Lawrence.
According to Undersheriff Sean O’Brien, the man was working on the cell tower when he fell between 145 and 160 feet.
The worker’s fall was broken by a guy-wire that holds up the tower, O’Brien said.
According to the undersheriff, the man was conscious after hitting the ground. He was rushed to Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
The man’s name was withheld and there was no word on his condition or whether he was wearing safety equipment at the time of the fall.
The undersheriff said the man was either a contractor or employee of Skyline 360 of Wolcott, New York. 7 News was unable to reach the company for comment.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified about the incident.
