WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown is getting closer to appointing a new city judge.
Mayor Jeff Smith says there are two candidates, both of whom he spoke with earlier this week.
He says both candidates have a long history of practicing law and both come from reputable law schools.
Smith says the salary for the part-time judge is not yet known, but the successful candidate is entitled to full benefits through the state.
Smith says he will be speaking with council Wednesday night and Thursday and expects to have a resolution ready for next Tuesday.
He says he’s looking for a candidate that has vast experience and respect from his peers.
