LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - January is Stalking Awareness Month as one expert wants to help you stay safe.
Experts say stalking can happen to anyone at any time. Their advice: keep a journal of recent events; enhance security measures if possible, and reach out to a victim services program for support.
“The other thing I would just want to say is that you don’t have to go through it alone and that there is help out there. There are resources and the more you know, the more you can do to prevent it and stop it,” said Mary Interiano, director of victim services at Lewis County Opportunities.
Interiano says each county has different resources for stalking so being educated on what your county provides can be helpful.
