Tri-county region sees deadliest day yet as COVID claims 6 more lives

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Six new COVID-19 deaths and another 280 positive cases were reported Thursday in the tri-county region.

Jefferson County

Two more people in Jefferson County have died from COVID-19. The death toll since the pandemic began now stands at 22.

There were 144 new cases to report in the county Thursday - a single-day record.

Twenty-one people are hospitalized; 725 people are in mandatory isolation and 1,331 are in mandatory quarantine.

Since the pandemic began, the county has seen 3,398 positive cases.

The county says 2,628 cases have recovered from the coronavirus.

St. Lawrence County

St. Lawrence County Public Health reported Thursday that 3 more people have died from the coronavirus. Since the pandemic began, 55 people in the county have died from COVID-19.

Officials also said 105 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases to date to 3,533.

Officials said 1,065 cases are active and 29 people are hospitalized.

According to the county, 2,413 cases have been released from isolation.

Lewis County

Lewis County reported one new death and 31 new cases Thursday.

Since the pandemic began, 16 people have died from COVID.

The county Public Health Agency said Thursday that 22 people are hospitalized and 252 are in isolation.

Another 657 people are under quarantine.

The county has had a total of 1,203 cases since the pandemic began.

Officials said 935 people have recovered from the coronavirus.
