ANTWERP, N.Y. (WWNY) - A man and a woman face charges after allegedly allowing three children to skip school for weeks.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies say 34-year-old Amber Dickson of Alexandria Bay and 34-year-old Kristopher Leonard of Antwerp each face three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies say they allowed the children, ages 10, 14, and 16, to miss many days of school in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.

According to deputies, the 16-year-old missed 47 days, the 14-year-old 67 days, and the 10-year-old 98 days.

Deputies say school staff made several attempts to intervene.

Leonard was arrested on January 25 and Dickson was arrested Friday.

Both were arraigned in Antwerp town court.
