Winter Storm Warning late Monday into Tuesday

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Things will be quiet tonight as clouds increase ahead of snow showers that will move in on Monday.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Jefferson and Lewis County from 7 PM Monday until 1 PM Tuesday. This warning will likely be extended until 7 PM Tuesday.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for St Lawrence County from 7 PM Monday until 7 PM Tuesday.

Light snow will move through during the day Monday with only 3 inches or less of accumulation.

We will see a break in the snow later Monday afternoon before round 2 moves in overnight Monday. Snow will be the heaviest overnight Monday and into Tuesday as snowfall rates could reach 1″ to 2″ an hour.

We are looking at widespread snow of 9″ to 18″ across all of the north country by 7 PM Tuesday.

Wednesday will be a nice day with some sunshine as a high pressure system moves through.

Another significant winter storm looks to move in Thursday and Friday. It is too early to talk about amounts and timing with this system.

The weekend looks quieter with only a slight chance of snow showers on Saturday.

Highs all week will remain below average.
