The first case of the COVID-19 South African variant has been identified in New York State.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The first case of the COVID-19 South African variant has been identified in New York State.

The Governor’s office says that person lives downstate in Nassau County on Long Island.

However, there is some good news statewide, New York State also reports that Saturday’s positivity rate was the lowest it’s been since late November at 2.99%.
