CHAUMONT, N.Y. (WWNY) - A waterfront park is under construction in the village of Chaumont.
It was discussed during Tuesday’s Jefferson County Planning Board meeting.
It will be about three-and-a-half acres -- right off Route 12E and bordering Lake Ontario. The park will have walking trails and an 80-foot dock for lake access.
Planners want the village to ensure it will limit pollution during construction.
“So, we’re noting that some water pollution prevention measures should be incorporated to limit soil loss into Saw Mill Bay during construction,” senior planner Andy Nevin said.
County officials also suggested adding picnic tables and benches along the trails.
Also coming out of the planning board meeting: a new Dollar General store could be coming to State Route 3 in the town of Champion.
The one-story building would be built next to Bud Lo Drive near Great Bend. It’s currently vacant land.
The county had nothing to say on the matter, deeming it of town concern only.
