Joseph “Leo” Basil Waldrif, 75, of Chase Mills
CHASE MILLS, New York (WWNY) - Joseph “Leo” Basil Waldrif, age 75, passed away in Alexandria Bay, NY at River Hospital after a motor vehicle on Tuesday November 22, 2022.
A graveside service for Leo will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday December 1, 2022 in Brookside Cemetery Waddington, NY with Pastor Donna Fitchette officiating.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Waddington American Legion Post No. 420 immediately following the services.
Leo was born on March 19, 1947 in Long Sault Ontario Canada to the late Earl and Lucy (Gauthier) Waldrif.
He attended school in Canada and was naturalized as an American Citizen when he was 20 years old. He soon found the love of his life, Debra A. Vallance, as they were married on December 22, 1972 at the Scotch-Presbyterian Church.
Leo was a dairy truck driver for well over 40 years. He began his career with Fobare’s Farm and later worked for Ray Burns & Sons Truckling, Inc. for over 35 years. Leo retired from working, only to go back to work for several additional years. He also worked at Dalton’s Farm and managed his own family working alongside his wife Debra and for 9 years with McKnight’s farm full time and later 12 years part time.
Leo loved to sit down with friends and family and share stories for hours. He also enjoyed going out to dinner on Thursday nights with his friends and having an occasional beer. He was very meticulous with his vehicles, washing and waxing his milk truck on sunny days.
Leo is survived by his children Michelle Manson of Madrid, NY and Amy Waldrif of Chase Mills, NY. Leo is also survived by his loving grandchildren Kate-lyn Vice, Hannah and Emmah Manson.
Leo is also survived by his siblings, Ronnie, Bobbie (Terry), Elaine (Bill), Heather St. Louis, Loraine, Linda and JoAnne Lavigne (Andrew).
In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his wife Debra A. Waldrif on September 14, 2017 along with his siblings Shirley, Shelia, Kenny and John and James.
