NORFOLK, New York (WWNY) - Roger Albert Pomainville, 81, formerly of Norfolk, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, NY.

Roger was born in Crysler, Ontario on February 20, 1941 son of the late Simeon & Maria (Vanier) Pomainville. He graduated from Massena Central High School in Massena, NY and then began his career as a Dairy Farmer. He married the late Francine (Pedersen) Pomainville on July 14, 1973 at St. Agnes Church in QC with Msgr. Michael Parent officiating. They settled in Massena, and raised a family on their dairy farm. Roger was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the K of C Auxiliary Council 1141 for a number of years.

Roger enjoyed watching hockey, playing card games, doing puzzles, listening to fiddle music, doing woodworking projects and watching old western shows. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by three children Eric (Emily) of Peru, Scott (Heidi) of Clifton Park, Lisa (Eric Tully) of Ballston Spa, his grandchildren Olivia of Peru, and Bradyn and Emma of Clifton Park. He is also survived by his brother Alcide (Aileen) Pomainville of Port Orange, FL, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Simeon and Maria, his loving wife Francine, two sisters Cecile and Alice, and three brothers Alfred, Leo and Real.

A funeral service will be held Saturday December 10, 2022 at 11:00 am with Bishop Terry R. Lavalley at St. Augustine’s Church located at 3035 N Main St. Peru, NY 12972. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Massena, NY at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to the Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund and mailed directly to Trinity Catholic School at 188 Main Street, Massena, NY 13662.
