Within the last couple of weeks, the Watertown Police Department has received several complaints from fast food restaurants and two bars where people were trying to pass counterfeit $100 bills.
Although some businesses declined to accept the counterfeit bills, police said others were tricked into accepting them.
Officials said if you receive a suspected counterfeit bill, do not return the bill to the passer and immediately call thepolice.
When possible, try to get a description of the suspect and/or vehicles.
Police ask businesses to be diligent in training their staff in detecting counterfeit bills.
If you have information about counterfeit bills being passed in the city, please call the Watertown Police Department at 315-782-2233.
