Dream Comes True For Teen In WheelchairPosted: Updated:
The Clarkson University men's hockey team signed a 13-year-old from Massena.
It's a signing that's expected to do a lot for Christian Harvey and a lot for the team.
It's a signing day like so many others at Clarkson's Cheel Arena.
Proud parents, a smiling recruit, and Clarkson's team captain answers press questions.
The difference? The recruit is sitting in a wheelchair, the result of a diving accident.
But a Boston-based nonprofit arranged for Christian's dream to come true: he joins a hockey team with a storied history.
"We think that this will bring a lot to you as it brings a lot to us," team captain Devin Brosseau said. "It is going to be an awesome journey, so we are all excited."
"Watching you guys play this weekend, you guys worked amazing together," Christian said, "lots of skill and talent, I can clearly see that.
Christian skated at Clarkson's hockey camp not long before his accident.
He played minor hockey for the Louisville Lightning.
